DECEMBER INVESTOR MEETING RECAP

December 17, 2019 / Source: GTAN

On December 17th, GTAN members, entrepreneurs and special guests, including students and professors from the University of Waterloo's School of Accounting and Finance and The Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, gathered at Bingemans for the last Investor Meeting of the decade.

The December Investor Meeting shook things up from previous months. Eight of the best companies that have pitched at GTAN|RAW’s September, October, November and December events were invited to showcase their early stage company at this month’s Investor meeting.

Attendees heard pitches from: Clear Voxel, Glitch Trax, StackTronic, Everyday Heroes Kid, Lean Payments, Welo, Secours.io and CleanAir.io

Each company gave a two minute elevator pitch and Angels had the chance to vote on the three companies they wished to hear more from using the Pitch Score app. The three companies who were selected to present a 5-minute pitch based on their PITCH SCORE were CleanAir.io, StackTronic and Welo.

The first company chosen to present was CleanAir.io. ALVI by CleanAir.io is a SMART air purifier for your home that provides HEPA-class air quality, reduced home energy consumption and provides actionable alerts on indoor air quality and filter performance.

The second company chosen to present was StackTronic. StackTronic’s modular battery platform simplifies the design process for electric powertrains, allowing any vehicle, of any size and any production volume, to be battery-powered in weeks rather than years.

The third and final company chosen to present was Welo. Welo has over 20 locally produced beverages and bars that do amazing things for your gut and body using probiotics. Welo’s probiotics are backed by over 20 scientific studies and have over 70% survivability.

To wrap up the evening, attendees heard from Paul Schiffner, CEO of GTAN portfolio company, PUSH. PUSH has developed a wearable tech, the Band, that enables coaches to objectively assess and track their athletes’ performances helping sport organizations and their staff make smart decisions about the way their athletes prepare for competition.

Save the date! Our first investment meeting of the decade will be held January 21, 2020. Interested in becoming a GTAN Angel? We’re always looking for new members. Contact us to learn more!
