On Tuesday, January 22nd, GTAN members, entrepreneurs and special guests gathered at Bingemans for the first Investor Meeting of 2019. This month, guests included Michael Harris Jr., Member of the Ontario Provincial Parliament of Kitchener-Conestoga, students and professors from the Wilfrid Laurier University Startup Fund and the University of Waterloo Student Venture Fund.

Attendees heard pitches from three early-stage companies: iRegained, myBrokerBee and Sonnet Labs.

The first pitch of the evening came from Vineet Johnson, CEO of iRegained. iRegained addresses the physical rehabilitation needs of people who have experienced brain injury as a result of stroke or accident, focussing primarily on restoring hand function. iRegained provides an affordable and portable solution for patients to continue their therapy from their own homes.

For the second pitch of the night, attendees heard from Mark Cashin, Founder of myBrokerBee.
myBrokerBee is a private lending marketplace that connects brokers, lenders and partners as they service a borrower, reducing the mortgage origination process from 1 to 5 days to 15 minutes and ensuring consumers are protected from unscrupulous participants.

The final pitch of the evening came from Boken Lin, Founder and CEO of Sonnet Labs. Sonnet Labs produces a wireless device that forms ad-hoc networks. These networks provide connectivity when existing communication infrastructure is unavailable. Sonnet Labs is used in industries that deploy fieldworkers in remote areas, such as mining, forestry, oil and gas industries.
